DAY 15: Commitment is the Greatest Strength

TD Jakes once said “there is probably more talent in this audience than is on this stage, but they lack commitment”. There are many people who could have been pro athletes, corporate leaders or musical superstars, but are hidden talents because they simply lacked the commitment and persistence required to go to the next level. Commitment is the greatest strength, even more than talent.

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. – Calvin Coolidge

Some of the best champions are not the best, the strongest or the fastest, they are just the ones that refuse to give up – and the same goes with fitness. Commitment is the greatest strength you could have in the gym.

How Strong is Your Commitment?

I take you fitness

There are people who are in the gym daily and trying to eat healthy daily. Even if they fail from time to time, their determination not to quit brings them to success eventually. Better yet, they can even be more successful than the toughest gym rat if they are more consistent and committed to the process, not just the result.

“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial…” James 1:12

Steadfast: firm in belief, determination, or adherence, firmly fixed in place IMMOVABLE not subject to change.

Trials will come. Failure will come. Bad days will come. But, if you are truly committed to the process, you won’t stop. If you embrace a steadfast mindset and commit to showing up day after day and trying day after day, you will continue to grow stronger, wiser, healthier and better.

Never underestimate the power of a commitment even if you feel like you lack the strength or even know-how. Commitment is your greatest strength. Commit to remaining steadfast.

Commitment is the Greatest Strength

Action Steps:

Have you committed to the process or just the result? Have you considered the cost? Commit to paying that cost no matter what the result.

Scripture of the Day:

“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial…” James 1:12

Mantra of the Day:

You are a champion. You are not a champ because you are the strongest or the best. you are a champion because you refuse to give up. – Bonnie Pfiester
