Monday Motivation: It’s Time To Refocus
Are You Near Sighted?
What if every decision you made was not based on how you feel now, but how you would feel later? I believe too many of us approach our life with a near sighted view. We only make decisions based on what we can see up close, because everything far away is a blur.
If we want to succeed in ANYthing in life, we MUST take a far sighted approach. We must look way off into the distance and see how the decisions we make NOW will affect us LATER.
Success Is Easy (IF)
If we keep our eyes looking ahead, succeeding is EASY!
It is EASY to get that run in
(KNOWING WE WILL FEEL AMAZING LATER).
It is EASY to not snack in night
(KNOWING WE’LL WAKE UP FEELING SO THIN).
It is EASY to not hit the snooze button
(KNOWING WE’LL AVOID FEELING REGRET).
It is EASY to not give up on our fitness program
(KNOWING IT WILL ALL PAY OFF AND WE’LL BE A TOTALLY NEW PERSON).
Beyond the Now
Whether you are working to lose weight, improve your marriage, grow in the Lord, raise your kids right, get that promotion at work, pay off debt (and the list goes on), you will NEVER reach your goal if you focus on the now.
Sacrifice is required NOW. Pain may even be required NOW. Denying yourself things you would like may be essential NOW. BUT, LATER? OH MY! Later, is going to be amazing. Later, is when you will be so proud you didn’t let the now get in the way.
Here is one of my favorite verses that reminds me of the reward of discipline. “No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening–it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.” Hebrews 12:11
Today is the day you are going to get your eye back on the prize!

After 3 days of dog showing…which Varro, my Belgian Tervuren and I did do some fast walking around the pavilions and when I got home, and I tried to walk ‘with purpose’ every time I walked from building to building….I was kinda wondering when I stepped on the scale this am….but HAY I LOST WEIGHT ! turning down that piece of pecan pie and bringing my own food was totally WORTH IT 🙂 Today I’ve biked home from dropping off the truck for an oil change and did our regular walk with woofs route 🙂

Bonnie, this is so SPOT ON for me right now. SO MUCH negative floating around, so many goals that NEED to be achieved…often I just don’t know if it will all be worth it in the end. must keep plugging away, though.
work on improving marriage
work on finances (debt!)
work on fitness goal
…
it is when the hits come that it becomes difficult and I lose sight of the end-game.
thank you for reminding me that it is imperative to stay far sighted.
