Can I afford that?If you can balance your bank account, you can balance your body account. Our weight is the result of caloric checks and balances. It takes a little time, discipline and mathematics, but the reward outweighs the work.

    I agree with Sammy in that I think most of us underestimate the number of calories that we are consuming. Adhering to a food journal has opened my eyes! Some foods are just not worth eating when I know how hard I work to exercise it off. I love how you compared this to a bank account-no money in my checking account and there is no shopping at Nordstroms. It is simple as that!       Thanks Meghan! I agree with you – once you start writing things down and learning about how much certain things ‘cost’ you’ll rethink A LOT of food choices! :)

    For years I journaled my food/calories and I think a big problem is that people underestimate the calories in the foods they eat – especially when eating out – and that makes the calorie tracking inaccurate which is a problem!

    just like on line banking, once you learn to use an on line food/exercise/weight tracker, it’s much easier to keep count of the pennies AND the pounds :)
